Aims
Born in Bradford is collaborating with NIHR Health Determinants Research Collaboration: Bradford and Equalise: ESRC Centre for Lifecourse and Health Equity to identify local priorities and coproduce research questions with Bradford district residents and council staff around early childhood education and care, utilising Born in Bradford data.
The main objectives are to:
Link early years census data held by the local authority for the Born in Bradford Cohorts and assess the quality of these data for research.
- Explore the uptake of early years entitlements for the Born in Bradford Better Start cohort and the impact of nursery attendance on inequalities in child outcomes. This is with the broader aim of understanding what helps children who do not attend early childhood education and care to achieve a Good Level of Development at age 5, measured using the Early Year Foundation Stages Profile.
- Undertake qualitative research with families who do and do not take up their early years entitlement to understand why and what impact this may or may not have on children’s development.
