The Study at a Glance
Adolescence is complex – shaped by technology, climate anxiety, economic uncertainty, and social change. Â
But what do teenagers actually think, feel, and experience?Â
The Born in Bradford Age of Wonder study recruited close to 20,000 teenagers from diverse backgrounds to answer exactly this question. It’s the UK’s major ongoing research project into adolescent life.Â
What we found
We’re releasing new Wellcome Open research papers twice monthly throughout 2026. Each paper provides rigorous, peer-reviewed insights into a specific aspect of teenage life.Â
Below you can find summaries, case studies, school briefs, and other assets relevant to each published paper.Â
These research findings are based on data collected over 2023/2024 academic year.Â
Why this matters
These findings create the most comprehensive, diverse picture of British adolescence ever produced. The research is already informing policy, practice and public understanding of what young people face today.
