An epidemiological investigation into transportation noise exposure and its associations with mental health and cardiometabolic outcomes.

Every year across England, people are exposed to harmful levels of noise pollution from road, rail or aircraft sources. There is growing evidence suggesting that transport noise exposure is associated with increased risks of mental health outcomes and cardiometabolic diseases in adults. However, there is very little evidence exploring these health outcomes in children. This project will model the transport noise exposure of BiB participants and carry out two research studies:
1) A study investigating the effect of transportation noise exposure on child and adolescent mental health.
2) A second study investigating the associations between transportation noise exposure and cardiometabolic health indicators in children and adolescents.
