Exploring the Relationship Between Diet, Blood Pressure, and Abdominal Circumference in Children: Born in Bradford Cohort Study

Background:
Children’s diets may influence important health measures like blood pressure and waist size, which are early indicators of future risk for conditions such as heart disease and diabetes. Understanding how diet relates to these health factors can help local governments design programs that improve access to healthy food for families. This can support better long-term health starting in childhood.

Methods:
We will examine how children’s blood pressure and waist size change over time and how these changes may relate to their diet and lifestyle. Other factors such as physical activity, gender, and family income will also be considered. We will use statistical tools to describe the data and test whether patterns or associations exist. In the final step, we will apply a regression analysis to explore how strongly diet is linked to the health outcomes, while accounting for other relevant factors. If we find that a large amount of data is missing, we will use special techniques to ensure that the results are still accurate and representative of the full group.
