Impact of delivery by caesarean section on cognitive development in children

Caesarean delivery might influence children’s cognitive development via the brain-gut axis, but literature is scarce and inconsistent. Also, few studies analysed elective caesarean separately, which entails more concern because no exposure to maternal microbiota exists. Our aim is to use the EU child cohort network to assess the role that type of delivery mode plays in children’s neurocognitive function at school age.
