Urban exposome profiles, socio-economic status and respiratory health

In this project we would like to go a step further than the
previous Helix exposome-respiratory health association study (i.e. Agier et al. Lancet Planetray health 2019)
by exploring the associations between the urban exposome and respiratory health (lung function, asthma
and wheezing) with statistical approaches allowing us to considering all urban exposures simultaneously. We
will perform unsupervised cluster analysis to identify groups of individuals sharing similar exposures, and
2
then we will explore whether these groups are associated with FEV1 and the presence of asthma and
wheezing using regression models. We will then use mediation analysis in the counterfactual framework to
disentangle the overall effect of SES on respiratory health (total effect), the effect passing through the urban
exposure profiles (indirect effect), and the effect unexplained by the urban exposure profiles (direct effect).
