Investigating the origins and risk factors that are known to create and widen inequalities in childhood obesity.

Social disadvantage (e.g., low-income or geographical deprivation), plays a crucial role in the development of inequalities in childhood obesity. Downstream risk factors for obesity can also mitigate or exacerbate the risk of having obesity in childhood. This project aims to explore the relative contributions of sources of disadvantage and risk factors on inequalities in childhood obesity and assess how these contributions accumulate across the early life course (2-14 years). We have a further aim of identifying entry points for interventions and risk factors to intervene on, and potential simulate the effects of these interventions.
