Psychometric Networks of Mother?Child Emotional Functioning: Evidence from the Born in Bradford Cohort

We are studying how mothers’ and children’s emotional difficulties are connected. While we know there is an interaction between maternal and child’s mental health and wellbeing, we don’t yet understand how these difficulties are most closely linked between mothers and children – e.g., specific symptoms of anxiety, low mood, or behavioural challenges – or how these links might be shaped by earlier difficulties in childhood. Using data from the Born in Bradford study, we will explore how emotional symptoms interact between mothers and children, and whether factors like poverty, ethnicity, or household structure affect these patterns.
