Racially minoritised girls? experiences of community-based sexual harassment

The present project will provide rich insight into the prevalence and impact of online and community based sexual harassment for racially minoritised girls in Bradford (13-18 years old). In Work Package 1, we will conduct an exploratory analysis of existing quantitative data (Age of Wonder) to understand the prevalence of sexual harassment experiences among young women in Bradford, including among different demographic groups. We will also explore how sexual harassment is related to girls’ health and wellbeing (e.g., body image, disordered eating behaviour) within the same dataset. In Work Package 2, we will conduct focus groups/interviews that seek to understand young women’s experiences of sexual harassment in more depth, providing further insight into the patterns identified in the previous work package. In Work Package 3, we will work with girls and women in Bradford to coproduce community-led solutions that will reduce the prevalence and impact of sexual harassment for racially minoritised girls in Bradford.
