Screen Time, Body Mass Index, and Psychosocial Well-being in Toddlers: A Harmonised Analysis of Multiple European Birth Cohorts

Young children are spending increasing amounts of time using screens, such as watching TV or using tablets. Health guidelines recommend limiting screen time, but the evidence behind these recommendations is still limited, especially for very young children.
This study will look at how screen time is related to children’s physical health (such as body weight) and emotional and behavioural development in toddlers aged 1 to 3 years.
We will use data from several large European studies that have followed children over time. By combining information from multiple studies, we can better understand patterns across different populations.
The findings from this study may help inform future guidelines and support parents, healthcare professionals, and policymakers in promoting healthier early childhood environments.
