Genetic basis of DNA methylation (GoDMC2)

Genetic and environmental factors influencing our health outcomes. DNA methylation is an epigenetic mark of gene regulation and can be used to understand how cells respond to environmental factors. However, it is unclear how much of the variation in DNA methylation levels is caused by genetic or environmental factors and if such effects also relate to health outcomes. Understanding the relationships between DNA methylation, genetics and health outcomes is essential for both understanding pathways of health and disease and disease consequences.
