Mapping disparities in childhood lead exposure in England

Our project aims to estimate the prevalence and distribution, in terms of geography and socioeconomic status, of lead exposure in England and its costs in terms of children’s wellbeing and development. While scholars and practitioners believe lead exposure to be widespread in England, a dearth of data on this issue has so far hindered policymaking. This project will conduct a secondary data analysis, building on international evidence to project exposure burden in England, to compare predictions of lead exposure risk with measures of lead prevalence in Bradford.
The ultimate goal of the project will be to use these validated predictions to inform a childhood lead prevalence study in England.
