Exploring the interplay of child happiness, being either a perpetrator or a victim of bullying, and weight status in primary school: an analysis within Born in Bradford?s primary school years.

This study will investigate whether children who rate themselves as not happy and/or as sad are more likely to be involved with bullying. The study will also analyse whether a child’s weight plays a role in this relationship. It employs an analysis that takes into account factors including socioeconomic status, children’s gender, age, ethnicity, family relationships, and peer relationships. Considering these additional factors, the research will provide a more nuanced understanding of the observed associations. This study thereby contributes to our knowledge of child mental health and the elements that lead to bullying in primary schools, including weight sigma. This research is part of the Born in Bradford project, a long-term study tracking the health and well-being of children in Bradford, providing valuable insights into child development during the primary school years.
