Presented by Dr Satrio Nindyo Istiko (Tiko) – Senior Research Fellow
Digital storytelling is a participatory art-based method to produce a 3-5-minute audiovisual work that tells a personal story. In this presentation, I share my experience with digital storytelling, based on the projects I did with ethnic minoritised communities in Australian sexual health sector, to demonstrate the increasing importance of digital storytelling in public health context. Three forms of digital storytelling will be shared: animated videos, online audio drama, and a short story. By sharing the co-production process, reflections, and findings from a pilot trial, I specifically highlight the uniqueness of digital storytelling as a method to co-construct health-related knowledge and improve health literacy.
Satrio Nindyo Istiko or Tiko is a public health social scientist and a writer, whose works address health inequalities linked to gender, sexuality, and race.
