Shahid Islam

Principal Research Fellow at BIHR & Director for the Centre for Co-production and Peer Research (CoPPeR)


Shahid is Principal Research Fellow at the Bradford Institute for Health Research (NHS) and Director for the Centre for Co-production and Peer Research (CoPPeR). He is Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Bradford and the University of Liverpool. He is the Patient and Public Involvement Lead for the Yorkshire and Humber Applied Research Collaboration (YH ARC) and for the West Yorkshire Commercial Research Delivery Centre (CRDC).

In a voluntary capacity, Shahid is Vice Chair for Bradford4Better and a Director for ASH Lodge CIC.

Shahid combines a passion for inclusive research methods and community activism. He has authored over 40 publications and was the lead author of the Act-Early Co-production Strategy. His work has attracted wide-scale media and policy attention and featured in WHO reports. He has delivered several keynote speeches and a TEdx talk on the subject of community inclusion in research.
