As a member of the Bradford Centre for Health Data Science team, Sarah is the Study Manager for Born in Bradford’s social media abstinence study, a YHARC study which utilises Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA) to understand the impacts of social media upon young people’s emotional wellbeing and mental health, and provides support to Born in Bradford’s Young People’s Social Prescribing evaluation. She has a background in mental health trial management and evaluation, in acute mental health settings, within schools, and between agencies.
Prior to entering research, Sarah was a Teacher of Modern Foreign Languages and Year 7 Form Tutor in West Yorkshire. From this she gained important insights into the challenges facing young people and families. This experience informed her doctoral research, which explores the primary-secondary school transition experiences of young people with behavioural and emotional difficulties. Sarah is currently completing her PhD at the University of Sheffield.
I’m really enthused by Born in Bradford’s focus on establishing and maintaining relationships with the communities which we serve. We also have a culture of innovation and creativity in research, which I think is really important.
