Strategic Director of Physical Activity

After a career as a charity campaigner and working at some of the most senior levels in British politics and government, Sam is the new Strategic Director of Physical Activity of JU:MP and Active Bradford. His experience includes working as a Shadow Cabinet Special Advisor for the Labour Party, Head of Press for the Labour Party’s campaign to Remain in Europe during the Brexit referendum, and as a Head of Policy in the Department for Education. Before politics and government, Sam worked for years in the charity sector and is a published author on best practice when working with volunteers.

Outside of work, Sam is an experienced sports coach having worked with the GB World Class Start programme as a rowing coach, and now as a junior ice hockey coach with the Bradford Bulldogs Ice Hockey club.

He’s a keen musician and hosts a podcast about new British music; and as a disabled person himself he regularly raises funds and awareness for a variety of mental health charities.
