Professor Prathivadi Anand

Professor of Public Policy and Sustainable Development – Academic Lead, University of Bradford


PB Anand is Professor of Public Policy and Sustainable Development and Head of the Division of Peace Studies and International Development at the University of Bradford. He is an environmental economist with a keen interest on sustainable cities, in particular on the interface between economic, social and environmental dimensions of human wellbeing and issues of multi-dimensional evaluation using Amartya Sen’s capability approach. With Dr Shailaja Fennell and Dr Flavio Comim he edited the New Frontiers of the Capability Approach (Cambridge University Press, 1998) and the Handbook of BRICS and Emerging Economies (Oxford University Press). He has led as the principal author and team leader of the Mongolia National Human Development Report and contributed to several studies for the UNDP on sustainable development. He is a Fellow of the Human Development and Capability Association, and also of the Institute of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability.
