Pietro is a cultural geographer and will hold the position of research fellow at Born in Bradford, collaborating on the Healthy Urban Places and Age of Wonder projects. Pietro is a qualitative researcher completing a PhD in cultural geography at the University of Leeds, which examines the impact of campus public art on students’ experiences of a sense of belonging, place, and community. Over the years, Pietro has collaborated with several research projects within the context of marginalised communities, deprived neighbourhoods, and young refugees’ community centres.
Pietro is primarily interested in examining the relationships that people establish with places. He is interested in understanding the multiple ways in which people shape places as well as the multiple ways in which people are shaped by places. Specifically, Pietro’s research focuses on understanding how places, as well as physical components of places, can contribute to shaping people’s sense of belonging, place, and community, as well as evaluating how these (non) experiences have an impact on people’s mental health and wellbeing.
