I am a qualitative researcher specializing in childhood research and child and youth participation. Currently, I contribute to the evaluation of two key programs: JU:MP (Join Us: Move. Play) and the Royal Ballet and Opera’s Create and Dance Bradford initiative.
JU:MP aims to increase physical activity and improve outcomes for children and young people aged 5–14. My role involves evaluating key program offerings such as the Bestlife app and using citizen science methods to gather children’s perspectives on the program. I also support the implementation team by conducting research and evaluation activities, including the use of Ripple Effect Mapping to involve the community in understanding changes to physical activity provision and awareness.
For the Create and Dance Bradford evaluation, I use observations, focus groups, and Ripple Effect Mapping to explore how the program supports children’s well-being. As part of a realist evaluation approach, I analyze what aspects of the program work, for whom, and in which contexts.
Alongside the work at BiB I am completing a PhD at Bradford University, where I conducted a synthesis of children and young people’s experiences participating in citizen science. This research extended into the JU:MP program, where I explored children’s perspectives on collaborative and contributory citizen science initiatives.
My research interests include child and youth participation and development, citizen science, children’s wellbeing and physical activity.
