Alishba Hussain

Research Assistant

Alishba is a research assistant at Born in Bradford and will be working on the new IRL trial, exploring the effects of social media use in relation to adolescent mental health and wellbeing. Her core responsibility will be to support the recruitment of schools and young people, whilst aiding in the delivery of the trial.

She has recently graduated from the University of Leeds with a Psychology degree, in which she undertook a placement year working as a research and implementation assistant under patient safety. During this placement, Alishba gained insight into all things research, gaining experience in data collection methods through to assisting write-up stages and had the opportunity to present one of my projects at the British Psychological Society Annual Health Psychology Conference 2025. This project was insightful and fuelled her passion for advocating for young people around Bradford as it was geared towards understanding their experiences of and accessibility around their healthcare.

Alishba is particularly interested in intersectionality and how there is a deficit of this within mainstream research practices, making her keen to get involved in current research aiming to develop approaches to understand and improve the lives of marginalised groups.
