Better Start Bradford Innovation Hub

Funder: Big Lottery

Investigator: Rosie McEachan, Dr Josie Dickerson

Better Start Bradford, a full and equal partnership led by Bradford Trident, has been awarded £49 million from the Big Lottery Fund to help children living in three inner-city wards of Bradford get a better start in life. Over the next ten years (2015-2025) BSB will provide over 20 projects for pregnant women and families with children aged 0-3. The projects will help to improve children’s emotional and social development, communication and language development, nutrition and reduce obesity.   Born in Bradford and Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust are key partners on the BSB programme.

The Better Start Bradford Innovation Hub, hosted by Born in Bradford, unites leading academics from the Universities of York, Bradford, Leeds and Leeds Beckett Universities to establish a new birth cohort (n=5000) and provide a centre for evaluation of effectiveness of the BSB innovations.
