Dr Kate Lightfoot

Senior Research Fellow

Kate joined BiB in 2022, working on Age of Wonder’s Teenage Stories programme – following the lives of over 100 teenagers in Bradford over seven years. In this role, Kate conducted interviews and group discussions with adolescents on the topics that matter to them, such as mental health, the environment, and social media. Kate is passionate about creative qualitative methods, and used workshops such as photography, poetry, and rap, to learn about young people’s lives.

Since September 2025, Kate has been working on the AIM (Adolescent Interventions for Mental Health) project where she uses qualitative research to understand young people’s experiences of accessing mental health support.
