Dr Satrio Nindyo Istiko

I joined Born in Bradford in February 2024 as a Senior Research Fellow (Qualitative) within the physical activity research group. My research is about tackling health inequalities among structurally marginalised groups, with a specific interest in migrants, asylum seekers, refugees, and ethnic minorities. I use qualitative methodologies to foreground ‘lived experiences’ and different forms of health knowledge embedded within these marginalized groups. This approach often involved participatory research, creative and visual methods, storytelling, and decolonizing scientific knowledge production.
