What are the associations between diet patterns in pregnancy and health outcomes for the mother and baby?

This study will explore the diet quality of pregnant women recruited to the original BiB cohort (from 2007 – 2011) and the associations with health outcomes for mother and baby, including pregnancy outcomes and longer-term health.
Diet pattern analysis has been completed for the BiB cohort. This used the FFQ (Food Frequency Questionnaire) questionnaire data (which is self-completed and completed at baseline, on recruitment to the cohort) and PCA analysis to transform diet data into meaningful dietary patterns.
This follow on research will investigate:
1. What are the associations between maternal diet patterns and health outcomes for the mother and baby in the cohort? (e.g., gestational diabetes, mental health, hypertension, pre-eclampsia, birth weight, preterm birth).
What are the associations between a woman’s diet during pregnancy and the subsequent health and wellbeing of mother and baby in the longer term (e.g. growth, weight, BMI)?
