Impact of Pregnancy and Birth Complication on Long-term Maternal Mental Health Outcomes.

Complications in pregnancy and birth remain a global public health issue. There is evidence that complications in pregnancy and birth continue to affect maternal and child health after childbirth. Several studies have explored mental and psychological presentations following pregnancy complications. The focus on these studies have been postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety, and stress.

In this study, we want to determine whether complications in pregnancy and birth influences the chances of women to have mental health problems beyond the postpartum period. If such an influence is identified, we want to examine whether there are factors that mediate the relationship between pregnancy/birth complications and mental health in the mother.
