Sunil is a practicing community paediatrician, and epidemiologist. He joined Born in Bradford in 2024 having worked and trained in Leeds (Medicine & International Health), Newcastle (Paediatrics), and London/New Delhi (Epidemiology/Public Health), with research in the UK, India, and Kenya. Linked with policy efforts, his work aims to both understand the biological mechanisms underpinning optimal early childhood development, and to develop preventative interventions aiming to improve life chances for all children during through the early years.
He serves on the Board of Trustees at the Royal College of Paediatrics & Child Health (where he formerly led the International Child Health Group), Foundation Years Information & Research (based in parliament) and The Children’s Foundation (northern childrens charity). He has experience of working in local and national public health agencies including a 12-month secondment supporting a Chief Executive within the UK’s Department of Health.
Sunil works across Born in Bradford teams, and co-leads the NIHR ARC children’s theme.
