The aims of the work:

  • To estimate the levels of meat intake and in particular the levels and sources of heterocyclic amine intake within pregnant women in the Born in Bradford cohort.
  • To estimate the levels and major sources of acrylamide intake within pregnant women in the Born in Bradford cohort.
  • To investigate whether levels and sources of these two suspected dietary carcinogens vary between women with different demographic and environmental profiles e.g. dietary patterns, age group, ethnicity and cigarette smoking.
