Job summary

A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to lead a partnership of organisations to deliver a whole-systems approach to physical activity in Bradford. The programmes will have a measurable impact on improving the health and well-being of children and adults in disadvantaged communities. The post will provide strategic leadership for:

  • JU:MP; the Bradford Local Delivery Pilot is funded by Sport England to understand better what helps people to be active in their communities. JU:MP is a world-leading programme hosted by Born in Bradford, researching a whole system approach to increasing children’s physical activity levels. www.activebradford.com/jump
  • Active Bradford is the strategic partnership that leads the whole system Physical Activity Strategy for Bradford; Every Move Counts has a vision to “create an active district where it’s easier for everyone to be active every day”. Active Bradford is in the process of strengthening its role over the next year, in order to lead the Place-Based Partnership for physical activity for the district, including achieving charitable status. www.activebradford.com

Main duties of the job

The post holder will strategically lead the JUMP and broader Active Bradford programmes, working collaboratively to ensure strategic partners are positively engaged and work together towards a whole system approach for tackling inactivity across Bradford. They will work with the Active Bradford Board and JU:MP team to develop the strategic plans for the deepening and expansion phase of Place-Based physical activity (2024 to 2028). They will also engage with various key partners locally and nationally. They will share learning from the JU:MP programme with local stakeholders, research communities and partners nationally and internationally.
