Brief Description of the Role:

We are excited to advertise a new Senior Research Fellow position within our established Physical Activity Research Team at Born in Bradford (BiB), an internationally acclaimed applied research programme (www.borninbradford.nhs.uk) hosted at Bradford Institute for Health Research (a national centre for excellence in health research – http://www.bradfordresearch.nhs.uk/). The BiB physical activity research team have recently partnered with the University of Bristol as part of the Diet and Physical Activity theme for the NIHR Bristol Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) (https://www.bristolbrc.nihr.ac.uk/research/diet-and-physical-activity/) . The aim of this partnership is to identify new, effective ways to increase physical activity and improve diet in groups from priority areas and who are often under-represented in research studies, such as people from ethnic minority groups.

We are seeking an experienced mixed methods population health researcher, with expertise in physical activity to translate knowledge from existing work in physical activity and develop practical and feasible interventions to improve population health and activity for the most inactive children and adolescents.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will have the leading role in planning, co-ordinating and completing research projects. They will be able to demonstrate independent management skills as well as working as part of a team. They will have excellent communication and presentation skills, together with the excellent inter-personal skills needed to be able to co-ordinate a multi-disciplinary research team, including patient and public representatives. They will have experience of conducting research in community settings.
