- Mariam began her career in Childcare and Education as a Bi-Lingual Support Worker, where she liaised with families, teaching staff and Social Services to provide support for children who spoke English as their second language.
- Mariam then moved to Financial Services, as a Project Manager responsible for delivering change across operational contact centres nationwide.
- After taking a short career break, Mariam took her BA in Islamic Studies at the University of Leeds, followed by a Research Masters in Languages, Cultures and Societies. Her thesis is an ethnography into the lay-Muslim societal discourse about the topic of posthumous organ donation in line with the Organ Donation (Deemed Consent) Act 2019.

I love working at Born in Bradford because the research programme is rooted in developing a meaningful understanding of the health and wellbeing concerns of the population by using a broad range of research methods. While engaging health professionals, the wider community and local organisations to trial approaches to help assess the research outcomes. The Born in Bradford team are friendly and helpful, making it a wonderful environment for working.
