Brief Description of the Role:

Born in Bradford (BiB) have an exciting opportunity for three Senior Research Fellows / Study Managers to come and work with us on our newest ground breaking research programme: Born in Bradford Age of Wonder.

BiB is an internationally acclaimed applied research programme that aims to achieve a healthier, fairer future for children living in the vibrant, ethnically diverse but deprived city of Bradford. BiB is a partnership of the Bradford Institute for Health Research and the Universities of York, Leeds, Bradford and Sheffield. BiB hosts three birth cohort studies and a range of applied research programmes including the use of innovative research methods such as quasi-experimental approaches and Trials within Cohorts.

The first BiB cohort includes 12,500 children who are now entering adolescence, a critical period that will shape the life-long physical and mental health as well as their social mobility and opportunities. BiB have received funding from Wellcome to follow 30,000 young people (including the original BiB cohort and their peers) until age 21 to better understand how to keep young people healthy and happy, to improve social opportunities and to reduce health inequalities. We will collaborate internationally on broad-ranging research and discovery science and promote rapid application to policy/practice.

Post one will lead on the implementation of our exciting longitudinal quantitative data collection and citizen science activities including the coordination of: in-school assessments; clinical assessments; online data collection and electronic linkage

Post two will coordinate the embedded interventional arm, which will use novel quasi-experimental methods and trials within cohorts to evaluate mental health interventions that are embedded within usual practice.

Post three will lead on our work embedding research and evidence from BiB into the education system as part of the Centre for Applied Education Research.

We are looking to appoint candidates who share our vision in creating a ground-breaking research programme that will shape the lives of future generations. The successful candidates will have strong project management skills and knowledge of applied health research, including a PhD (or equivalent experience) in an applied health research subject. these posts are being offered on a full-time basis, but part time working will be considered with a minimum of 3 days per week
