Brief Description of Role:

Born in Bradford (BiB) is an internationally-recognised research programme which aims to find out what keeps families healthy and happy. We use this information to work with the local authority, health, education and voluntary sector providers across Bradford district to develop, implement and evaluate ambitious programmes to improve population health . BiB hosts three birth cohort studies: the Born in Bradford cohort, Born in Bradford’s Better Start (BiBBS), and BiB4All, all of which harness routine data from numerous organisations to evaluate children’s health and wellbeing. BiB also hosts the Act Early City Collaboratory, which is funded by the UK Prevention Research Partnership (UKPRP), to create novel city research ‘hubs’ in Bradford and Tower Hamlets that will support the identification, co-production, implementation and evaluation of upstream interventions in areas with high levels of child poverty.

We are looking to recruit a Database Manager to play a key supporting role across the BiB family of projects.

The main focus of the role will be on supporting database design, build and development activities in support of BIHR research programmes, providing robust ETL processes and supporting data extraction, reporting and linkage activity across the datasets managed by the Research IT Development Team. The post holder will be expected to acquire in-depth knowledge and expertise regarding the various datasets managed by the BiB Research IT Development Team.

The post holder will be educated to graduate level (or, possess equivalent experience), have a detailed knowledge of SQL, including T-SQL, SQL Server Integration Services/ETL methods, SQL Server Reporting Services, or, a BI equivalent, and experience of designing, developing and maintaining databases and associated processes on a major RDBMS platform.
