Brief Description of the Role:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Qualitative Research Fellow to join the team at Born in Bradford. We have a vision to promote a healthier, fairer future for children and adults living in deprived areas through a focus on improving environments and reducing inequalities that can influence health and life chances.
We are looking for an organised, motivated and enthusiastic research fellow who shares our exciting vision, and who have expertise in applied research, qualitative research methods and qualitative analysis, to join us in contributing towards a number of ground-breaking research programmes that will shape the lives of future generations.
The post is advertised as full time (37.5 hours a week) although part time working will be considered (minimum of 22.5 hours a week)
Purpose of role: You will work in a supporting role across several different qualitative research projects connected to the BiB portfolio. This will predominantly take the form of supporting Dr Bridget Lockyer (Senior Research Fellow) and working closely with her to deliver qualitative projects. At present, we expect the Research Fellow to contribute to work across two major projects, with further involvement across the qualitative portfolio over time. In the first instance, the post holder will work on the following studies:
The Born in Bradford Covid-19 research study, funded by the Health Foundation,

The qualitative part of this large mixed methods study focuses on topics related to Covid-19 which have been identified as priority areas of exploration to aid the Bradford recovery. You may conduct qualitative fieldwork (most likely phone or video interviews), be involved in conducting an inductive thematic analysis and writing up the findings in the form of short reports for local decision makers and articles for peer reviewed publications. There may also be some analysis of free text responses to several longitudinal surveys.
ActEarly: a City Collaboratory approach to early promotion of good health and wellbeing, funded by UKPRP

The post holder will assist with the delivery of the Qualitative Evaluation theme of ActEarly. This includes: providing bespoke qualitative methodological and analytic design/advice to a range of stakeholders and researchers, conducting evaluative fieldwork and analysis of upstream interventions being implemented across Bradford and conducting a longitudinal interview study which looks at how the ActEarly research networks have been formed and maintained.
