Principal Research Fellow Vacancy

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Principal Research Fellow with expertise in applied health research and applied epidemiology to join the Born in Bradford research team.

Born in Bradford (BiB) is an internationally acclaimed applied research programme which aims to improve health and wellbeing through cutting edge epidemiology, the development and evaluation of interventions to promote health, and the application of research into practice . We host two multi-ethnic birth cohort studies: ‘the Born in Bradford family cohort study’, and the world’s first experimental birth cohort study ‘Born in Bradford’s Better Start’ which combined include over 30,000 Bradford residents. BiB also hosts the Better Start Bradford Innovation Hub which evaluates the impact of a Big Lottery Funded £49 million investment to improve child health and wellbeing in the city. The post is based within the Bradford Institute for Health Research (BIHR) within Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, nestled in the heart of the Yorkshire, and in the vibrant city of Bradford. BIHR is a unique research partnership between the primary and secondary care NHS Trusts in Bradford and Airedale and the universities of Bradford, Leeds and York. It is home to 150 academic and clinical researchers and the Wolfson Centre for Applied Health Research.

The successful candidate will lead on the development of novel experimental and quasi-experimental methods to evaluate the impact of interventions to improve health and wellbeing. They will also play a key role in the prestigious ‘BiB New Wave’ project which will see follow-up assessments of BiB families when their children are aged between 8-10. They will be invited to develop their own research portfolio based on the BiB research programme.
