Born in Bradford (BiB) is an internationally acclaimed applied research programme which aims to improve health and wellbeing through the development and evaluation of interventions to promote health and the application of research into practice (https://www.born-in-bradford.local). BiB hosts three birth cohort studies: the Born in Bradford cohort, Born in Bradford’s Better Start (BiBBS), and BiB4All, all of which harness routine data from numerous organisations to evaluate children’s health and wellbeing. The oldest BiB children started Secondary school in 2018 and BiB is increasingly focused on engaging both Secondary schools and the children themselves in research. In tandem, BiB is working on a range of applied health projects which aim to develop, implement and evaluate ‘systems’ level interventions (for example, initiatives to improve air quality and green spaces, tackling unhealthy food environments) to improve the health and wellbeing of families.

We are looking to recruit a Systems Developer to play a key role across the BiB family of projects.

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated and highly organized systems developer to join the programme. The successful applicant will be an experienced software developer, or, systems programmer with a flair for gathering complex systems requirements across a non-technical multidisciplinary team. They will join a team of systems developers, database specialists and analysts in supporting the work of leading epidemiologists and health researchers from across the UK who are working in close partnership as part of Born in Bradford. The post-holder will provide high quality IT and data driven solutions to support the flow of quality data and information to support the objectives of the projects. Implementation, maintenance, support and management of information architectures (IA) are activities key to this role. The post-holder will be expected to undertake system analysis & administration work as part of their responsibilities.
