I’m a Research Fellow in the Connected Bradford team, working to identify risk factors of young people not being in education, employment or training (NEET). My 3 year project (2022-25) has been funded by a donation from an alumna from the University of Leeds, where I have worked since 2019. In addition to educational outcomes, I’m interested in hand-eye coordination (motor) skills and I held a Wellcome Trust ISSF Fellowship 2020-22 to break down the skill of keyboard typing into sub-skills and monitor how they develop over time when school pupils learn to touch type. You can play demos of my online typing games at www.turbo-typing.com/demo. Prior to this, I oversaw the delivery of ‘Helping Handwriting SHINE’ and ‘Glasses in Classes’, two school-led interventions which aimed to increase educational attainment by increasing writing composition and proper glasses wear respectively. I was awarded my PhD in Psychology from the University of Manchester in 2019.
