Dan leads the Bradford Centre for Health Data Science. He is an epidemiologist who focuses on mental health (particularly for young people), the way the healthcare system treats people with stigmatising conditions such as drug and alcohol dependence, and social exclusion. He specialises in causal analysis of observational data, and is particularly interested in within-case comparisons, nested case control and matched cohort designs, and simulation-based approaches to create intuitive effect estimates. Dan is a Consultant in Public Health and can supervise public health trainees who are interested in health research. He is also honorary Associate Professor of public health and epidemiology at University College London.
